About Rajasthan Furnishings
Handcrafted in India, rooted in tradition, and chosen to
bring beauty, character and timeless elegance to your home.
Rajasthan Furnishings was born from a passion that has been more than a decade in the making. Our love affair with India began during our very first visit in 2012, when we were captivated by its vibrant colours, rich traditions, warm hospitality and extraordinary craftsmanship. What started as admiration soon became a deep connection, drawing us back time and time again to explore the country’s remarkable culture and meet the incredible people who bring it to life.
In December 2024, during a journey through the enchanting landscapes and cities of Rajasthan, that connection evolved into something more. As we travelled through bustling markets, artisan workshops and remote villages, meeting talented craftspeople and hearing their stories, a vision began to take shape. We realised we wanted to share these exceptional handmade
treasures with others, creating a bridge between the skilled artisans of India
and homes throughout the United Kingdom.
Established in 2025, Rajasthan Furnishings is built on a commitment to authenticity, sustainability and meaningful partnerships. Every piece in our collection is carefully and ethically sourced, chosen not only for its beauty and craftsmanship but also for the story behind it. We work closely with artisans, family-run businesses and local communities, ensuring that traditional skills are preserved and fairly rewarded.
More than simply offering handcrafted furniture, artwork and soft furnishings, our mission is to celebrate the heritage, creativity and spirit of India. By supporting the talented people behind each creation and reinvesting in the communities we work with, we help preserve these treasured traditions for future generations.
Every item we bring home carries a story of artistry, dedication and cultural heritage. Through Rajasthan Furnishings, we are honoured to share a small piece of India’s heart and soul with you, bringing timeless craftsmanship, authentic design and meaningful stories into your home.
Indian Handcrafted Furniture
Jodhpur has long been celebrated as one of India’s finest centres of woodcraft, renowned for producing furniture of exceptional beauty and quality. During one of our visits, a casual conversation with our hotel
owner led to an experience that would become a defining moment in our ourney.
Having expressed our desire to discover authentic craftsmanship beyond the
bustling markets, we were introduced to one of the region’s most respected
furniture exporters.
From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were captivated. Everywhere we looked, skilled artisans were transforming raw materials into stunning pieces of furniture, each one a unique expression of creativity, heritage and craftsmanship. The attention to detail was extraordinary, and the warmth and generosity shown to us by the owner and his team made the experience even more memorable.
Every piece in our collection has been carefully hand-selected to showcase the remarkable talent, dedication and artistry of India’s master craftsmen. Created using traditional techniques passed down through generations, these furnishings embody the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan while offering timeless elegance for contemporary living.
More than simply furniture, these are pieces with a story. Each item reflects countless hours of skilled workmanship, a passion for preserving traditional craftsmanship, and a commitment to creating something truly unique. The result is a collection that blends beauty, functionality and character, bringing a sense of history, authenticity and enduring craftsmanship into your home.
Soft furnishings
Handcrafted Soft Furnishings from the Villages of Jaisalmer
Nestled within the golden city of Jaisalmer, one of Rajasthan’s most captivating destinations, we discovered a story that perfectly reflects the spirit of the people we are privileged to work with. During our stay in a hotel perched high within the ancient fort, we paused for a coffee and found ourselves admiring a collection of beautifully handcrafted bedcovers displayed on a nearby wall. That simple moment led us to meet PJ, a young entrepreneur whose passion, determination and warmth left a lasting impression.
The business had originally been founded by his father, but following his father's unexpected passing, PJ found himself entrusted with continuing the family legacy. Despite having little business experience at the time, he embraced the challenge with remarkable resilience and dedication. His genuine friendliness and easy-going nature made an immediate connection
possible, and over time a strong friendship has grown.
Today, we are proud to support and mentor one another, sharing knowledge, encouragement and a common goal of helping our businesses
thrive together.
Every soft furnishing in our collection is lovingly handcrafted by talented women from the villages surrounding Jaisalmer. Using recycled textiles such as vintage saris and wedding garments, these artisans transform cherished fabrics into beautiful and unique pieces for the home. Traditional patterns, vibrant colours and regional designs are woven into each creation, ensuring that every item carries its own distinctive story and
cultural significance.
More than beautiful home accessories, these handcrafted textiles represent empowerment, sustainability and the preservation of traditional skills. By providing meaningful employment and creating opportunities for financial independence, this initiative helps strengthen local communities while celebrating the rich artistic heritage of Rajasthan. Each piece is a testament to creativity, craftsmanship and the enduring beauty of giving treasured materials a new life.
"Lentil Man" Artist
Meet Vijay Raj – The “Lentil Man” of Rajasthan
Few artists can claim to paint on a lentil in less than a minute, but for master miniature artist Vijay Raj, this extraordinary feat is just one example of a lifetime dedicated to preserving one of India’s most intricate art forms. Having practised Fine Miniature Painting since the 1980s, his remarkable skill has earned him the nickname “The Lentil Man.”
Witnessing him work is nothing short of mesmerising—a rare opportunity to see
centuries-old artistry brought to life with astonishing precision and speed.
Vijay Raj gained international recognition when he featured at the Jodhpur Polo event in 2012. Yet despite his success, he remains deeply committed to sharing his knowledge and supporting his community. He provides free tuition in handmade arts, sketching and miniature painting,
passing these traditional skills on to future generations. Many of the beautiful paintings are now created by talented women from his village, whom he personally trained. In a testament to his generosity, 70% of his earnings are reinvested into local education and supporting these women artists.
A true master of his craft, Vijay Raj combines exceptional talent with humility, integrity and a deep respect for his heritage. Today, his son proudly follows in his footsteps, ensuring this
remarkable artistic legacy continues for generations to come.
Each painting represents the celebrated tradition of Indian Miniature Art. Created using natural gemstone pigments and delicate brushes crafted from squirrel tail hair, these exquisite works are painstakingly painted on silk, rice paper, vintage court-stamped paper and other traditional mediums. Every piece is a timeless expression of craftsmanship, culture and artistic excellence.
Leather Bags from Jaisalmer
Our leather bag collection was born in a moment of serendipity - on my very last day in India. As the sun cast its golden glow over Jaisalmer, I stumbled upon a hidden gem; a bustling local workshop where artisans pour their heart and heritage into crafting the most exquisite leather bags. The air was filled with the scent of leather, the hum of creativity, and the quiet pride of skilled hands at work.
I was instantly captivated. The quality was impeccable, the textures irresistible, and the designs, so bold, so soulful where stories stitched in leather, waiting to be carried.
I brought a selection back with me, so you too can feel their magic. Run your fingers over the supple surface, take in the scent of craftsmanship, and picture it draped gracefully over your shoulder - an everyday piece with extraordinary origins.
